What is this initiative about?

First of its kind in West Africa; the #GoForAWestAfricanChessGrandMaster Initiative in
conjunction with various stakeholders within the , is aimed at producing the very First Chess Grand Master in West Africa.

The target is to achieve this goal by year 2023; specifically, by preparing about 10 of the
most talented Chess Players from the different countries in the West Africa, to participate in events like the African Individual Chess
Championships (AICC), and other events that confers the winner with this title; and thus the
#GoForAWestAfricanChessGrandMaster is making every effort to ensure that this happens
for a Nigerian on home soil.

To produce a West-African chess Grand Master, the easiest way to achieve this goal is for a West African player to win the African Individual chess championship.
